Brush Off
The Ancient Beauty Secret of Dry Skin Brushing                                    Beauty Tips By Sugar Pine Beauty

Since Roman times, women have known about the excellent health and beauty benefits of dry skin
brushing. Here are a few of the noted benefits:
-   Stimulates and enhances blood circulation
-   Enhances immune function
-   Softer, velvety skin
-   Mild tightening appearance of skin

Your skin breathes! It is the largest route of eliminating toxins from your body. Dry skin brushing is an
inexpensive way to naturally remove toxins and it only takes a few minutes a day.

Here are some general guidelines to get started:
- Only use a natural bristle brush. Synthetic brushes can pull the skin. Use a brush that can fit
easily into your hand.
- Always brush when your skin is dry. Wet skin can pull easily and does not offer the same
benefits.
- Initially, you may want to brush your skin 1 to 2 times weekly. As your skin adjusts to the
brushing, work up to 2 times a day. Ideally, brush in the morning and then again prior to
bedtime. It is not unusual to have very small scratches when you first start brushing. This
is a normal phase and will pass quickly.
- Wash your brush frequently and do not share. Replace your brush every 3 to 4 months.

Now for the actual brushing technique. You will want to use quick upward motions with the brush.
Always brush in one direction, moving toward your heart. It typically takes between 5-15 minutes to
complete the routine.

1. Start with the soles of your feet. Do 2 to 3 quick brush strokes from your toes to your heel. Then brush
the top side of your foot.

2. Move up the front and then back of your legs. Once again, short upward strokes toward your heart.

3. Move up your stomach area toward your breasts.

4. Your breast skin is more sensitive, so use very light strokes. Under each breast, brush with the
natural curvature of the breast (“U” shape stroke). You will want to start at your sternum and end at your
armpit. Finish the breast area with small short strokes at the top of your breast toward your neck.

5. Move to the palms of your hands. Do several short strokes from the fingertips to the wrist. Then brush
the top side of your hand.

6. Move up your arms brushing both sides.

7. Finally, the most critical area is under your arms in the lymph node area. Brush several strokes from
your armpits slightly into your breast area.

You will find skin brushing to be an addictive and invigorating experience. Your feel more in tune with
your body and will see noticeable changes. We also recommend increasing your water intake for even
greater results.
